Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) students, faculty, and staff recently concluded a successful back-to-school supplies drive to support young students in the nearby Pasadena and Altadena communities. Organized by the Office of Community Engagement and Government Affairs (OCEGA) in partnership with the nonprofit organization Friends in Deed, the drive aimed to ensure students have the things they need for a strong start to the 2025-26 school year.

Donation boxes were placed around campus to give everyone the opportunity to contribute a wide range of essential school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, pens, crayons, markers, pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, and calculators. Donations were also made as digital payments to support the purchase of additional supplies.

“This drive was a meaningful way for our KPSOM community to come together in support of local students,” said Lori Carter-Edwards, Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Government Affairs. “We’re honored to partner with Friends in Deed and grateful to everyone who contributed to making a difference in the lives of young learners.”
