Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) has announced an extension of its full tuition support program for one additional entering class. In a letter to the KPSOM community, Dean and CEO John L. Dalrymple, MD, shared that students who enroll in 2026 will receive full tuition waivers for all four years of their medical education, continuing a school-wide commitment that has been in place since KPSOM opened in 2020.
The extension, approved by the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine Board of Directors, ensures continuity while the school finalizes its next five-year strategic plan, which will guide KPSOM through 2030. The new strategic plan is expected to launch this fall and will outline a longer-term tuition and financial support strategy for students entering in 2027 and beyond.
“This decision reflects our continued commitment to reducing barriers for future physicians and supporting students who share our mission to advance health and well-being in the communities they serve,” said Dean Dalrymple. “We are grateful to our board and Kaiser Permanente leadership for their partnership and for helping make this level of support possible.”
Since its founding, KPSOM has offered full tuition support to every incoming class, a distinctive model that has attracted aspiring physicians from across the country who are dedicated to serving diverse communities and addressing systemic health challenges.
Further details about future tuition policies will be shared following the release of the school’s new strategic plan later this year.
