Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center was founded in 1950 and is a center of excellence for bariatric surgery, a nationally accredited breast center, and a certified primary stroke center. It has been awarded for excellence in joint replacement. The Human Rights Campaign has recognized Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” annually since 2011 and “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” annually since 2007.
