Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs

Dr. Nahid Rianon is a nationally recognized leader in faculty development, geriatrics, and academic medicine. As Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at KPSOM, she brings a strategic focus on faculty advancement, mentorship, and inclusive excellence—building on foundational efforts to strengthen promotional pathways and deepen engagement with clinical faculty. Most recently, Dr. Rianon served as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and held the Memorial Hermann Endowed Chair in the Joan and Stanford Alexander Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Her leadership includes founding a geriatric osteoporosis clinic, directing the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit, and launching the Mentoring and Promotion Program (MAPP), a schoolwide initiative supporting faculty advancement. Her research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), NASA, and PCORI, and she has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications.
