The Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Dr. Holly J. Humphrey, MD, MACP, who joined the KPSOM’s Board of Directors in 2016 and served as the Chair from 2017 until earlier this year. Dr. Humphrey played a pivotal role in guiding the school through its formative years, shaping its mission, values, and early success with wisdom, integrity, and compassion.
“She was not just a leader; she was a mentor and a friend to many of us,” said Dr. John Dalrymple, Dean and CEO of KPSOM. “Her leadership helped shape KPSOM into the incredible institution it is today.”
In addition to her role at KPSOM, Dr. Humphrey’s legacy as a nationally renowned educator and President of the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation leaves an enduring mark on the field of medical education. She was honored more than 25 times as a favorite faculty member at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and inspired countless students, colleagues, and future leaders.
