Faculty Director of Inclusive Curriculum; Assistant Professor
Dr. Nicole Lawson serves as the inaugural Faculty Director of Inclusive Curriculum within the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID). Drawing from her background in curriculum development and instructional design within the Office of Medical Education, she leads the school’s inclusive curriculum strategy, collaborating with faculty and student stakeholders. In her role, she creates inclusive curriculum resources, provides faculty development, heads the Inclusive Curriculum Workgroup, and contributes to scholarship on inclusive medical education. Additionally, as an Assistant Professor in the Health Systems Science department, Dr. Lawson leads the EID thread across all four years of curriculum. She is actively engaged in research, currently working on AAMC and CDC Foundation grants focusing on EID and telehealth curricula and exploring climate and health intersections through community storytelling by bringing local high school students and KPSOM students into dialogue with each other. Her research interests span environmental education, health equity, and place-making, particularly in urban minoritized communities.
