Dr. Andre M. Cipta is a Southern California Permanente Medical Group physician specializing in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. He serves as the Inaugural Director of the Palliative Medicine Clerkship, a faculty advisor for student interest groups, and a member of the School’s Admissions Committee. He is Director Emeritus of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship and Associate Medical Director of the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Hospice Program. Dr. Cipta has received several national recognitions for his contributions to advancing serious illness care. He has developed innovative curricula, including a mid-career fellowship program under the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s (ACGME) Advancing Innovation in Residency Education (AIRE) initiative. His interests lie in exploring novel approaches to medical education, studying the relationship between spirituality and health, and advocating for compassionate, evidence-informed, whole-person-centered care across the continuum of serious illness.
