Biography
Executive Consultant to the Dean
Michael Niemeyer focuses on the Dean’s communications inclusive of informal talks, larger-format speeches, and social media at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. Mr. Niemeyer also leads the Dean’s preparation for most engagements of an external nature and serves as the lead for the Dean’s leadership team meeting, anchors special projects such as leadership searches, and heads up the alum relations function at KPSOM.
Before joining KPSOM, Mr. Niemeyer’s career at Kaiser Permanente spanned both the Permanente Medical Group and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals/Health Plan entities. He served as Director of Meaningful Use (now Promoting Interoperability) and led Kaiser Permanente’s national attestation strategy, spearheaded quality initiatives in the outpatient and inpatient setting, managed technology pilots, and served as the lead for regional strategies around population management for various chronic conditions. Previous to Kaiser Permanente, Mr. Niemeyer implemented custom technology solutions in the state government and healthcare settings for Deloitte.
Mr. Niemeyer holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University. He served on the Board of Maitri Compassionate Care for 10 years, and five years as its Board President.
