Director of Policy Engagement and Advocacy

Ms. Rodriguez brings both private and public sector management and external relations experience to this position. Her experience includes serving seven years as director of external relations and communications for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health where she managed the department’s communications, community and government relations areas serving the most populous county in the United States.

In her role with Verizon public affairs, Ms. Rodriguez served as director of ethnic markets and regulatory compliance, coordinating goal implementation to increase philanthropy in underserved communities. While at Verizon, she worked with non-profits throughout California on implementation of a community collaborative agreement, to address continued access for underserved populations during the GTE-Bell Atlantic merger that created Verizon. Ms. Rodriguez has served as a legislative deputy to former Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina community, where she focused on social services. Her background also includes the legal profession, having worked as a legal services attorney for Long Beach Legal Aid community, providing legal representation on family law, housing, and government benefit-related issues. She has also worked in the healthcare law field as the manager of compliance and associate counsel for Universal Care, Inc. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of California Los Angeles and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in Print Journalism and International Relations.
