Director of Facilities Services

As the director of Facilities Services, Troy Elam Jr. is responsible for Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine’s Education Building and associated administrative office space and leased buildings. He also will direct the management, operations, and financial performance of all building operations, environmental services, and safety, as well as oversee long and short-term facilities and space planning, manage the ongoing maintenance of the buildings and equipment, and oversee parking, transportation, sustainability, and mechanical and electrical systems to ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for students, faculty, and staff. He is also an onsite evaluator for Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Prior to joining the school, Mr. Elam held the position of Director of Facilities and Construction Project Management for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) College. There he oversaw multi-million-dollar construction projects, renovations, and improvements. In addition, he managed the day-to-day operations for security, maintenance, and environmental services department. He also served as the Director of Corporate Facilities and Security Operations for IEC Corporation, parent company to the UEI Colleges, Florida Career Colleges, and U.S. Colleges. While at IEC Corporation, he had oversight for facilities and security-related operations, which included 32 college campuses across 12 states.

Mr. Elam also served as a police officer for more than a decade, occupying special assignments positions such as uniform patrol, police diver, boat operator, SWAT, and detective. He is and an active member of the CA State Guard, where he serves as an Officer, assigned to the Military Police Battalion. 

Mr. Elam received a BA in Criminal Justice and an MBA in Accounting from Patten University.
