Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs; Professor
Dr. Quyen Ngo-Metzger, a Professor in the Health Systems Science Department, teaches and mentors students and junior faculty in prevention, population health, health disparities, and evidence-based medicine. Prior to joining the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, she was Scientific Director of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which has developed and maintained over 130 clinical practice guidelines for preventive services. This work involved reviewing the most up-to-date research results and determining which services are most clinically effective. The guidelines provide the scientific basis for insurance coverage of preventive services nationwide. Dr. Ngo-Metzger brings over two decades of experience studying and improving quality of care. Her research focuses on prevention, the social and cultural determinants of health, implementation science, healthcare systems, and evidence-based practice. She has published more than 100 original peer-reviewed articles and received numerous awards in recognition of her work.
