Dr. Anthony E. Burgos is a general pediatrician who has practiced and led in many areas of clinical care, including inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and intensive care settings, including three of KPSOM’s seven Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship sites. He has deep experience and expertise in the key areas of care, clinical operations, academic medicine, and research. His body of work shows commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity; acumen in operational leadership; and distinction in research. At KPSOM Dr. Burgos has focused on developing the longitudinal integrated clerkships and integrating Heath Systems Science into the clinical curriculum. He has been part of KPSOM’s Innovation Groundwork Team: Assessing Health Systems Science in Clinical Environments, funded by the AMA’s ChangeMedEd Initiative. He has served as principal investigator (PI), co-PI, or on-site PI on several grants with funding by the NIH, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, regional institutions, private foundations, and industry. Dr. Burgos has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatrics, Hospital Pediatrics, JAMA Network Open, European Journal of Pediatrics, and Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety and has contributed to four chapters in print on neonatal, postnatal, and pediatric care quality topics.
