Associate Professor

Biomedical Science
As a faculty member in the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine’s Department of Biomedical Science, Dr. Stephen Garrett directs the infectious disease curriculum. Before joining the school, Dr. Garrett served as Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, as well as Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of the Campus Alfred Sloan Foundation Minority PhD Program at the Rutgers School of Graduate Studies. His commitment to medical education has been recognized by numerous awards, and he has served as student mentor and advocate; as director of PhD programs at Duke University Medical Center and Rutgers School of Graduate Studies; and as vice chair of the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Student Affairs Committee.
