Biography

Senior Finance Director

As the Senior Finance Director, Michelle Sare leads the planning, budgeting, and execution of the school budget. She also develops financial standard operating procedures, policies, and processes to support the execution of the annual operating budget. In addition, she provides guidance and develops the budget and finance team and serves as a consultant and subject matter expert to leadership, faculty, and staff at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.

Ms. Sare has a strong leadership and university operations management background from her time at the University of Southern California (USC). She has more than 10 years of leadership experience, overseeing financial and grant management programs, faculty and student administration support, and university operations development.

Prior to accepting her position at the school, Ms. Sare worked as the Finance Director in the Department of Preventative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She previously served as the Grant Manager of the department for four years. She also worked as a Business Manager handling finances for USC Student Affairs and started her career at the university as a Budget Assistant at the USC Marshall School of Business.

She is a current member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and a member of the Financial Management Association International (FMA).

Ms. Sare earned her BA in Economics and Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside. She went on to earn a MA from USC.
