Marc Klau, MD, MBA

Associate Dean for Clinical Integration; Assistant Professor

Dr. Marc Klau is a head and neck surgeon and has been a partner with Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) since 1984. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and Assistant Professor at Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine; he is also Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine’s Associate Dean for Clinical Integration. Dr. Klau was SCPMG Local Chief of Head and Neck Surgery in Orange County as well as the Regional Chief of Head and Neck Surgery. As Regional Chief, he led the development of the surgical learning collaborative that operationalized coaching in the operating room as a quality improvement tool. In addition, as leader of Graduate Medical Education for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, he expanded the medical residencies and established the community medicine fellowship program. As leader of the SCPMG leadership program, he oversaw the reorganization of the middle and advanced residential programs. Dr. Klau’s research has explored areas such as thyroid and parathyroid surgery; faculty and trainee needs related to scholarly activity in a Graduate Medical Education Program; acute sinusitis; and continuing medical education. He was one of the originators of the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine more than 10 years ago.
