Senior Director of Communications

Mi Chelle Sorey leads the communication and marketing functions for the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine. She is responsible for developing the School’s comprehensive integrated communications program and strategy, which includes internal and external communication channels to all audiences of the School.

She has worked for Kaiser Permanente since 1989, serving in regional and national communication, marketing, and technology leadership roles, and has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare communications. In these roles, she ran corporate communications departments for both the Southern California Health Plan/Hospitals and Southern California Permanente Medical Group, where she provided C-Suite consultation to leadership and led, developed, and executed communication strategies for large-scale corporate initiatives. Prior to joining the School, Ms. Sorey served as Kaiser Permanente’s Digital Experience Center’s Director of Strategy of Kaiser Permanente's Digital Experience Center for the Southern California and Georgia regions. She also has overseen the establishment of several departments within Kaiser Permanente, including the first National Member Communications Department, and was part of the start-up team which developed and launched kp.org, Kaiser Permanente’s first internet website. She served as the Southern California Regional Director of Communications and Media Relations, where she developed Kaiser Permanente’s email marketing program and created the first e-newsletters for members and customer groups. Before coming to Kaiser Permanente, she oversaw Corporate Communications, Media Relations, and Community Relations at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, and worked as a journalist for several Los Angeles newspapers. Ms. Sorey received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the University of Southern California and is a former CORO public affairs fellow.
